Mid-Year Goal Review Session for 2023 (Video)

We are in June, and this is the perfect time to review your goals. Many people unfortunately skip this step because they feel like they don’t have the time - between work and family responsibilities, but reviewing your goals is actually the key to keep working on them and maintain momentum.

Life is constantly changing, the world is constantly changing, and you have to be ready to adapt in your life and in your career. For this reason, goals are not set in stone. You might discover that, after three or six months, one or more of your goals is no longer relevant. It’s totally normal. If that’s the case, you can tweak them or create new ones altogether. Maybe you need to change your journey to overcome a new set of challenges, and that doesn’t mean that you failed; it’s about flexibility and adaptation, this is why you want to regularly review and reassess your goals and KPIs. Analyze them regularly throughout the year to make sure you are on your path to success.

The frequency with which goals should be reviewed is very much dependent on the goal itself. What is more certain is that you should plan to review your goals regularly (every week, month, quarter, etc.), but at least every six months to correct the course if necessary.

If you’re new to mid-year goal reviews, we’re glad you’re here! In the video above, our coach expert Sabrina Cadini guides you through the step-by-step process where you go through all of the goals that you created in January and evaluate everything to see if they’re still important to you.

Step 1

Make sure you can dedicate about 30 minutes to an hour, completely uninterrupted, to go over the entire process, and write everything down (your answers from the reflection and your plan for the remainder of the year). When you write down your goals and intentions, you’re most likely to accomplish them.

Step 2

Review the last six months, January through June, and go over your key accomplishments, wins, and also setbacks.

Some questions to help you can be:

  • What am I most proud of?

  • What worked or didn’t work?

  • Where did I make progress or where did I get stuck?

  • What was the best decision I made? Or the worst mistake?

  • Why did that happen?

Don’t get discouraged by the fact that you didn’t accomplish something; it’s probably because you aimed too high, you set too many goals, or it wasn’t the right time. Maybe you didn’t have enough resources, or support, or it was simply due to lack of a plan. This reflection will help you modify the goals accordingly and avoid possible mistakes you have made in your previous strategy.

Keep watching to complete the process and work on fantastic goals for yourself, your family, and your job or company!
