How to enjoy vacations and stay productive (Video)

Going on vacation sounds awesome, but very often we end up spending our vacation time thinking about work and feeling guilty because … we’re not at work. And the result is that we don’t enjoy vacation so much after all! But there are ways you can organize your vacation so that you don’t feel guilty, and you can have fun, rest, and recharge for when you go back to your everyday life. You need to get away from work, your body and brain need that reset.

Several studies have shown that “vacation deficits are more likely to show signs of moderate to severe depression”, and lack of vacation is correlated to an increased risk of heart disease. So, time to pack!

In the video above, our expert coach Sabrina Cadini shared three tips to stay productive when you enjoy your vacation.

1 - Have a plan before leaving

Before you leave, make sure that your customers or clients and your team or manager are aware that you will be taking a week – or more – off. Make it very clear that you won’t be available during work hours – except for emergencies but define “emergencies” because your team members might just email you for something that they need help with – because they miss you there!

If possible, assign a point of contact at work while you are away who can filter your calls, emails, and provide solutions in your absence. This can be extremely helpful especially if you don’t have access to a stable internet connection during your vacation.

Also, take a look at what needs to be done and assign tasks and projects to your employees or team members so that they have something to work on, and time is not wasted while you’re away.
