How to get rid of time wasters (Video)
In the video above, our coach expert Sabrina Cadini helps you identify and overcome time wasters with useful tips.
Time wasters are our worst enemies when it comes to efficiency and productivity, but we often have a hard time identifying them in our day-to-day operations. They are usually habits or activities that we do without even realizing that they’re wasting our time.
These are the most “popular” time wasters, and feel free to add yours by leaving a comment below:
Long, unnecessary meetings (or meetings with no agenda)
Distractions
Notifications
Procrastination
Multitasking
Social media
What can you do to avoid or minimize time wasters? Sabrina shared 5 tips in the video:
1. Be aware
Be more aware of what you do during your day, both at work and in your personal life. We live on autopilot so often that life just passes by, and we miss important moments. So, instead of being frustrated because you wasted time on something that didn’t bring any value or results, be aware of what you are doing. Awareness will allow you to spot those wasters and correct the course.
2. Plan ahead at the end of each day
Instead of trying to figure out what you should be doing in the morning when you start your day, spend the last ten minutes of each day preparing for the next one. Take a look at your calendar in the evening and schedule your next day. That way, you know exactly what you need to work on the following day and you’re also not missing important tasks that you were not able to complete the day before.
A great technique for this is the Eisenhower Matrix where you organize your tasks based on their importance and urgency, so that you prioritize without improvising. It’s such a powerful tool for your productivity and performance.
